Men who bedwet

Don't tell anyone, I am embarrased. Sound familiar? Yep, but most men wet the bed at some time in their life, from a small child through to adolecense and into teens and adult hood. Stress is the biggest cause, especially when as teens you are facing exams. But sometimes this can continue into adult life. Many try to hide it but few succeed. It is not shamefull. It is a natural part of the body and mind. Some men sleep soundly especially after a few beers down the pub and do not wake up when nature takes its course. We can overcome this embarrasment, we just have to take responsibility of our shortcommings.

I have read this book myself and the stories are not beyond belief as many usually are. For dads they would make a great before bed reading to their AB sons and daughters, although it is aimed mainly at the gay AB. It is well priced, but of course the postage always costs. The Kindle version is much cheaper and an instant download. There are graphics on diapering methods, folding and forms of cloth diapering. I hope you all suport this author as he has produced a wonderfull reference and story book for the AB/DL community.

Feeling ashamed

Do you feel ashamed of being a bedwetter? Most bedwetters do as they feel they are in some way deficient in life; maybe insecure or just week. But we shouldn't feel that way. Most bedwetters not only wet the bed, but can wet their pants during the day as well. It is not something they enjoy, rather it is a weakness in their bladder and signals from the nerves in the bladder not reaching the brain with sufficient information for the brain to react and instruct us to do something.

I work as a bus driver. I may be in the seat driving for periods in excess of 5 hours at a time. I have tried not to wear a diaper while working, but I always end up embarrassing myself most days. To wear a diaper is not embarrassing for me. It has become a necessity. A wet diaper is more comfortable than wet pants and underwear. It is the same when sleeping. A wet diaper overcomes the embarrassment of a wet and often cold bed. A diaper can be disposed of whereas a wet bed requires the bedding to be washed. It's as simple as ABC; wear a diaper if you have a wetting problem and avoid any embarrassment. By wearing clothing to hide the fact that you have a diaper on, normally will hide the fact that you are a diaper wearer and few if any will notice. I have worn diapers to work for 12 years now, and not one person has ever asked me if I wear.

Vinyl bedding protection

It's been several weeks now since I received my new vinyl matress cover and vinyl top sheet. I cover the matress cover with a normal sheet and then a sheet between me and the upper vinyl sheet. Even in a tropical climate, they are comfortable and now I feel fully protected should my diapers accidentally leak overnight. My bedding is now safe. It's easy to just throw the sheets into the washing machine and dryer and have them back on the bed the same day. My biggest problem before was not the matress, as that was always covered and protected, but my quilt would become stained and would have an odor. It was more difficult to wash the quilt, usually having to have it sent to the dry cleaners as my washing machine could not handle the bulk.

The vinyl bedding is available so go hunting for it. It is soft and comfortable and can be hidden within your bedding so nobody except you will know.

Little accidents

Little accidents happen. Even when you are diapered up, little accidents can happen. I was diapered and had plastic pants covering my diaper, but as I was asleep when my body decided my bladder had to release, I flooded and my diaper could not take so much liquid all at once, so some leaked out and I wet the bed. It amazes me that you can take so many precautions and yet still wake up with a wet bed. I am used to it now, but many still worry or get upset about it. All I can say is don't. Little accidents happen, and if you get angry with yourself then you are too hard on yourself. Just accept it as an accident and put it behind you. It will happen dispite all your attempts to make sure it doesn't. That;s life I supose so you should just go with the flow and be happy when you wake up with a wet diaper and a dry bed.

gear for bedwetters

Well it is that time again, the time to buy new gear to overcome bed wetting. I have bought 4 new training pants, 3 flannel lined and one terry lined (trying terry out) a couple of new vinyl pants to replace a couple of pairs that have started to harden through use, and some bedding, as well as a couple of cloth diapers.

Bedding is just as important as the diaper to overcome bed wetting. Sure you have got a diaper on, maybe even vinyl pants or training pants over the top of the diaper, but there is always the chance of leakage, even if remote. I always cover my mattress in a vinyl sheet, but recently I did have a major leak while sleeping and although the mattress was protected, the top sheet and dooner was not. I always protect my pillow with a vinyl pillowslip covered with a pollycotton slip cover, but not my dooner. Well this time the dooner was affected, so now I have ordered a flat vinyl sheet to go between the top sheet and the dooner. I have also ordered a vinyl mattress protector which is an envelope that zips the mattress inside fully protecting the mattress from liquids and also bugs (don't let the bed bugs bite) and good for allergy sufferers.

So, for those regular bed wetters or those wanting full protection, a vinyl envelope mattress protector costs about $80 a flat sheet (mine is a king size) around $40 and 2 pillow covers in vinyl around $30 so all up $150 and you have full protection for at least 4 years before having to maybe replace. Should you have a leakage, then only the sheets have to be washed and any odor can be wiped away on the vinyl.

There are many styles of mattress protection, plastic, vinyl and nylon. Personally I prefer the vinyl. maybe it's because I have a great liking for vinyl (maybe even a fetish like) but I find plastic tears after a short while, and nylon just doesn't feel right to me. I wear vinyl pants over my diapers preferring the better softer grades, so a little more expensive. I live in the northern tropics of Australia so heat is a problem, but I do not have any problems sleeping on a vinyl sheet. I like the feel of the vinyl sheet below me and the security knowing my mattress is fully protected. So next time you are looking to replace some items, check out the vinyl bedding while you are at it.

Training pants

I often wear training pants over disposable diapers so that should I get any leakage, it is absorbed and not wet my pants. Training pants for adults are hard to find, especially good quality ones. One company I am familiar with and sell a quality product is Fetware. I have used their product now for several years and their flannel lined training pant has received many washess and also stands up to drying in the clothes drier. I have not tried other brands, as I have been very satisfied with this one specific pant. The vinyl is soft and noiseless, the binding on the legs and waist soft and comfortable, and the flannel, although only one layer, is thick and very absorbant. Layers up to 8 layers can be bought if you prefer. The vinyl is made from their 'Cloud' range and although priced at between $24 and $37 dependant on size, I feel are true value for money. The crotch is wide at from 10" to 18" mine being 16" and suitable for both cloth and disposable diapers. I use mine for disposable and the wide crotch allows good movement of the legs when sitting down. For those not familiar with Fetware, here is the URL for the training pants.

If you have a small problem and not a regular bedwetter, wearing the training pant at night while sleeping can avert a wet bed. It will soak up any dribbling that may occur and will absorb even a moderate leakage of the bladder. Training pants are a good investment for bedwetters. Comfortable, absorbant and washable for use another day.

periodic bedwetters

Bedwetters do not have to be constant wetters. For some it is an accident of rarity, but it does happen. There are ways to protect yourself without going to the expense of diapering up every night.

Training pants are a good substitute for a diaper and are washable. They are available in varrying thicknesses from 1 layer to 4 layers. Basically they are a pair of vinyl pants with a layer of flannel inside. Dependant to your needs, this flannel layer can be varried from a single layer for mild dribbling to 4 layers for heavier wetting. They are comfortable to wear in bed and do not have the bulk of a diaper. They are also good for those who have dribbling problems during the day and are less bulky than a diaper so less easily detectable. Basically they are vinyl covered underwear. They are available in many of the Incontinent Products on-line shops but more so in the AB/DL stores.

Personally, I wear training pants instead of vinyl pants over the top of my diapers when working. They stop any leakage from getting out and absorb any odors also. They are not cheap, usually between $30 to $40 a pair but last for years if looked after. I wash mine in the normal washing machine, then turn inside out so the flannel is on the outside, and place in a low heat dryer. They stay soft if washed with a softner in your wash, and also have a lingering fresh smell all through the day.

So maybe it is time for you to experiment. Bedwetting is not a crime, it is a problem easily overcome through common sense. There are products out there that make life more comfortable and you should take the bull by the horns and accept you have a problem, then find the best way for you to overcome it.
